Art Tatum (Oct. 13, 1909 - 1959) was the most accomplished of the pre-bop piano players. He possessed perfect pitch, which compensated for his near blindness. His agility and improvisational talents were second to none, and his technique and speed of playing (hand coordination) still baffles pianists today…
