Niemeyer was the driving force behind the bizarre project of constructing a brand new capital for Brazil in the barren interior of the country. Brazilia was realized during the late 50s and early 60s to the city plan of Lúcio Costa and with Niemeyer designing the most important official buildings throughout the city.
